Taylor Run

Location:
Taylor run is a cold-water trout fishery located in Hamilton Township, PA. 

Importance:
This stream was impounded causing sedimentation, warming of water, and a migration disconnect for the native brook trout. 

The Project:
The NSS Team removed a failing impoundment, realigned the stream, and reconstructed the channel. Grade controls were installed, banks were stabilized, planted, and reconnected to the floodplain. The authorized work resulted in over 800 linear feet of meandering stream. This restored natural flow regimes and reconnected the native brook trout to their historical spawning grounds. Beyond the ecological uplift, this project had a large recreational impact as a valued fishery.
