Cloud Creek
The Cloud Creek Mitigation Bank sits on a 40 acre property in eastern Oklahoma. Historic land use led to severe channel degradation of Cloud Creek and its tributaries. Additionally, berms and ditches had been built to drain water and to keep Cloud Creek from accessing its floodplain. NSS built over 10 acres of wetlands in the flood plan to increase water quality and restore unique habitat that has been decimated on the landscape. In addition to the wetland work over half a mile of stream was restored via bank and bed stabilization. Using local materials NSS was able to lift the water table and add unique woody habitat to the system.
