Little Horse Creek Mitigation
Natural State Streams, LLC is pleased to announce the approval and release of stream mitigation credits from Little Horse Creek Mitigation Bank. Credits from this bank can be used for offsets in the Elk, Lake of the Cherokees, Lower Neosho, Illinois, and Robert S. Kerr Reservoir watersheds.
Location: Little Horse Creek Mitigation Bank (LHCMB) is located in Benton County, Arkansas near Sulphur Springs. Importance: LHCMB has been established to offset impacts to waters of the US by restoring over 13,700 linear feet of streams and riparian habitat, improving water quality. These offsets will be integral in maintaining high water quality in the fast-growing Northwest Arkansas area. We recognize the positive power of development in Northwest Arkansas, our mitigation bank helps lift the natural resources alongside our growing community. Annual MonitoringThe NSS team has annually monitored the biodiversity, geomorphology, and sediment deposits of Little Horse Creek. By surveying cross sections of the creek, NSS has been able to see how the creek bed has changed in the past five years. Some sites have seen very little change from the initial implemented design, while other sites have become even more stable. As the creek continues to improve the wildlife that lives in and around it has flourished.
