Bush ValleyBush Valley sits in the heart of Northwest Arkansas. Five headwater spring fed streams converge in this valley and help feed the Baron Fork System. Historically, this valley had been clear cut and the streams left vulnerable to erosion. Phase 1 of this project stabilized the bed and banks of the nearly 3,000 ft of perennial stream in the valley. Materials for construction were harvested on site as fire lanes were established to aid in future prescribed burns. Eastern Red Cedar was mechanically removed to restore unique glade and oak savanna habitat. As well as provide the material for toe wood bank stabilization. Perched wetland complexes were also created site wide to capture runoff and recharge the dozens of springs in the valley. Phase 2 will aim to restore over half a mile of intermittent stream in addition to over 25 acres of riparian restoration.
